Very detailed and scarce map of Philippine and Hawaii with insets of Manila and Honolulu and Pearl Harbour. Two interesting notes below each title are as follows;
Philippines-The islands were ceded to the United States by the treaty of peace signed at Paris, December 10, 1898.
Hawaiian Islands-Were annexed to the United States by Act of Congress, July 7, 1898.

Sir W. Johnston ( 1802-1888)
He founded the firm of A & K Johnston starting as a printer in 1825. The firm published a “National Atlas” and a “Royal Atlas” which included much new information especially in the newly settled colonies in the Southern Hemisphere. Recent discoveries inland in many colonies were now noted for the first time on many of their maps.
