Description:
A very rare plan of the Domain noting the buildings on the Macquarie Street boundary and the baths on the Woolloomooloo side.
Also shown is the outline of the “Cricket Ground” which was the reason for Parliamentary enquiry as to the legality of the permanent fencing surrounding the “ground” and the rights of Sydney residents to have access to the Domain at all times. The Commission found that fencing and building construction by the cricket club had not only been illegally erected but also contravened the parliamentary act which established the Domain as a recreation ground for all Sydney siders.
Macquarie Street buildings; School of Industry, Chapel, C. Chambers, Hospital, Mint and Emigration Barracks.
Baths on Woolloomooloo Bay; Corporation Male Baths, Robinson’s Male Baths, Robinson’s Female Baths and Corporation Female Baths.
