Exquisite and very rare map of the province of Sichuan, China, detailing the ranges of the Hengduan Mountains and the Yangtze River. Features an elaborate title cartouche. From Nouvel atlas de la Chine, de la Tartarie Chinoise and et du Thibet.

D’Anville, a noted French cartographer, was appointed royal geographer and elected to the Academie des Sciences in 1773. A map editor who designed new maps by collecting and comparing as many sources as possible, D’Anville was renowned for his scrupulous attention to detail.
