Biography:

Pierre-Antoine Poiteau (1766-1854) 

Poiteau was a French botanical artist who studied under Gerard van Spaendonck and greatly influenced by Redoute. He was appointed head of the Royal tree nursery of Versailles and published a number of important botanical works. He is one of the great botanical illustrators of the C19th.
