Scarce lithograph of the Cuscus and Banded Hare-Wallaby.

The first illustration of the Banded Hare-wallaby was made by Charles Lesueur the artist on board the famous Baudin expedition. The species was discovered by Peron on Bernier Island in 1801.

Karl Joseph Brodtmann (1787-1862) was a Swiss lithographer and publisher active in the 19th century. He is known for his illustrations of animals, plants and landscapes. He also produced a large collection of lithographic views of Switzerland and other parts of Europe. He was one of the best-known Swiss lithographers of his time and his work continues to be highly valued by collectors and art historians today.
