Description:

Very rare engraving of the celebrated yacht Xarifa owned by Mr. C. Parbury, of the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron.

The Xarifa was built in Woolloomooloo Bay, by D. Sheehy, and launched on September, 1863. She was built of local timbers; blue gum, with kaurie topsides, black-butt and honey suckle timbers and launched on September, 1863 31 tons, and 58ft in length.

 All her other races she has won easily, defeating .the schooner Chance, 70 tons (in a race from Sydney to Newcastle and back), by 3 1/2 hours, the Alerte 50 tons, the Vivid 25 tons, the Peri 18 tons, and, all the second-class yachts.
