Description:
Engraving of Russian emigrants landing in New York in 1892.
Emigration to America was part of a massive wave of Jewish immigration between 1881 and 1914. It was estimated that around two million Eastern European Jews entered the United States at this time. The main reason for the large-scale emigration of Jews from Eastern Europe was the economic and social persecution they were facing at that time.
