Description:
The famous bandit Ishikawa Goemon (died 1594) and he is shown at the Mountain Gate of Nanzenoji, a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto. In the Kabuki play Sanmon gozan no kiri, (Temple Gate and Paulownia Crest), he wanted to avenge his father’s death by killing the warrior Mashiba Hisayoshi (in real life he was Toyotomi Hideyoshi).
