Artist:

Samuel Howitt (1756-1822 )

Howitt was an artist from a Nottinghamshire family of squires. Howitt became a professional artist specialising in sporting subjects. He worked as a drawing master in Ealing and then in 1783 he exhibited for the first time at the Incorporated Society of Artists. He married Thomas Rowlandson’s sister.
