Scarce miniature c.19th map of the Unites States listing  fifteen states.

The United States of America had thirteen original colonies, commonly known as the thirteen original states. Virginia, originally known as Jamestown, was the first colony to be founded in 1607, and Georgia was the last of the thirteen colonies to be established. The thirteen colonies, which included; Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Georgia, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts Bay, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Maryland, New York, Rhode Island and Providence, and North Carolina, came together in order to gain independence from foreign rule. Vermont was added on March 4, 1791 )and Kentucky June 1, 1792.
