One of the largest C19th panoramas of Sydney ever made, published in January 1888 to celebrate one hundred years of British settlement of colony. In almost mint condition – a rarity.
This spectacular engraved view is taken from above Pyrrmont looking east to the heads and the eastern suburbs of Sydney. Darling Harbour is in the immediate foreground, then Walsh Bay and west to central railway station. There are two insets one at top left of, ‘The General Post Office‘ and the other at top right, ‘The Town Hall’.

Albert Charles Cooke (1836 - 1902)
Cooke was a painter, engraver, draughtsman and illustrator. Throughout his career he worked for many of the Illustrated newspapers, such as the Illustrated Sydney News, Illustrated Australian News, The Australasian Sketcher and The Leader. He was also well known for a series of birds eye views of a number of Australian cities and towns.
