Description:

Rare colonial engraving of yachting in Sydney Harbour. The yachts are sailing past Fort Macquarie built on Bennelong Point in 1798 to protect shipping in Sydney Cove (Circular Quay) now the site of the Sydney Opera House. It was demolished in 1901 to make way for the Fort Macquarie Tram Depot to connect trams to the suburbs.
