Herbert Reginald Gallop (1890 - 1958)

Gallop was born in Gunning, New South Wales on 20 July 1890. He was apprenticed to a signwriter and display artist and studied at Sydney Art School under Julian Ashton and later became a leading member of the Australian Painters' and Etchers' Society. He was also an art teacher at the East Sydney Technical College. He exhibited at the Royal Art Society Lavender Bay where his portrait can be viewed. Gallop died in Sydney in 1958. Represented Art Gallery NSW, National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria.
