Description:
One of the few colonial views of any of the Sydney law courts. The Central Police Courts, Court of Petty Sessions and Central Criminal and Local Court, were housed at the Sydney Central Local Courthouse that was constructed in 1892. Designed by James Barnet and further enhanced by Government Architect Walter Liberty Vernon. Alterations in 1914 included the conversion of the caretaker’s quarters into a new courtroom. In the following year a second storey comprising two magistrate’s rooms was added. From the original edition of the Illustrated Sydney News.
