Very large rare engraved supplement from the original edition of The Illustrated London News showing the crowede lobby of the House of Commons. The Illustrated London News was the world’s first illustrated weekly news magazine with its inaugural issue appearing on Saturday, 14th May 1842.

Biography:

Mason Jackson (1819-1903)

Engraver and illustrator, pupil of his brother John Jackson (1801-1848). He became Art Editor of the Illustrated London News in 1860 and Editor in 1875. He was the first historian of illustrated journalism.
