Large engraving showing  the Lord Mayor the day after being sworn into office taking the oath of allegiance to the Crown in the High Court of England presided by Chief Justice John Duke Coleridge (1820 -1894).

Coleridge was an English lawyer, judge and Liberal politician. He held the posts, in turn, of Solicitor General for England and Wales, Attorney General for England and Wales, Chief Justice of the Common Pleas and Lord Chief Justice of England.

Sydney Prior Hall (1842-1922) Painter, draughtsman and illustrator. Born in Newmarket & studied under his father Harry Hall the equestrian artist & at the RA schools. Hall was a popular painter of sport & military subjects. He was a favourite painter of the Royal Family and accompanied Lord Lorne to Canada in 1881.
