Description:

SS Oregon was built by John Elder &amp Company, in Govan, Scotland and launched June 23, 1883. It was purchased by Cunard for the Liverpool to New York Via Queenstown run. The name SS Oregon dates from the time before Cunard began to name her ships for Roman provinces. It was wrecked in 1886 off Fire Island, New York. The Irish seaport of Cobh was officially named ‘Queenstown’ between 1848 and 1922 (after Queen Victoria).
