Description:

In this orientalist subject Lindsay has created a scene full of tension and intrigue, The sultan angered by recent news or events is seated on a large cushion, his face is hardened with angry resolve while his right hand is clenched in a claw. The four females are whispering amongst themselves nervously, while the tiger hesitantly looks out from behind the safety of the legs of one of the females. The background is an exotic array of nude figures, camels, elephants and a horse.
