Biography:

Utagawa (or Ochiai ) Yoshiiku (1833-1904)

Yoshiiku was a famous wood block artist of beautiful women, actors and warriors.His father ran a teahouse and after showing promise he was apprenticed to Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798-1861). Also working in the same studio was Yoshitoshi Tsukioka.In the late 1860s, Yoshiiku and Yoshitoshi collaborated on as series titled; Eimei nijuhasshuku series.
