Description:
The West India Docks were constructed in two phases. The two northern-most docks were constructed between 1800 and 1802 and opened on 27 August 1802 and were the first commercial wet docks in London. The southern-most dock named the South West India Dock, was not constructed until the 1860s and this replaced an unprofitable canal, shown on this plan built in 1805. Now part of the Canary Wharf development. A scarce and interesing early plan.
