Hubert De Castella was an Australian winemaking pioneer and at the start of the 20th Century St. Huberts was one of the colony’s grandest wineries. Hubert de Castella’s passion for the Yarra Valley saw him establish the St. Huberts vineyard in 1862. In 1880 St. Huberts won the Emperor Wilhelm I of Germany’s award for the most successful exhibitor at the Melbourne International Exhibition.
