Description:
Two c.18th plans of the city of Syracuse, Sicily on the one sheet shown before and after the city was besieged by the Athenians. The siege of Syracuse of 414-413 BC was a two year long epic that ended with the total defeat and destruction of the Athenian army, and that put Athens onto the defensive in the renewed fighting in the Great Peloponnesian War.
