Description:

Scarce engraved world map on Mercators Projection based on Robert’s map issued in the British Admiralty accounts of Cook’s third and final voyage.

The map includes the tracks of Captain Cook’s three voyages of exploration. Cook made an enormous contribution to the overall knowledge of world cartography. He discovered and charted; the east coast of Australia, New Zealand, the Hawaiian Islands, explored southern waters and disproved the existence of a navigable Northwest Passage. Roberts’s chart was the most up-to-date world map for its time.
