Description:

Nineteenth century engraving of the township of Cashel in the south of Ireland.

William Henry Bartlett (1809 - 1854)

Bartlett was born in London in 1809. He travelled extensively throughout Britain, the Balkans and the Middle East depicting views and scenes and became recognised as one of the foremost illustrators of topography of his generation. From 1836 - 1852 he made four journeys to North America and died of fever on board a ship off the coast of Malta, aged 45.
