Rare colonial engraving of Boggy Creek, Gippsland where gold was discovered in 1857. There were soon 1000 people living there but the rush was short lived. The discovery of other reefs in the mid-1860s led to the establishment of a number of mines. A small township named Allanvale, situated near where Bullumwaal and Bairnsdale Road crosses Boggy Creek. It was later renamed Boggy Creek.
