Etienne Philippe De Pretot (1710 - 1787)
Pretot was appointed Royal Censor, he composed and partly directed the Course of Studies for the Military School. He was also responsible for supervising the reprint of the Latin classics, given by Antoine-Urbain Coustelier and, from 1747 to 1755 and published the Works of Catullus, Tibullus, Properce, Salluste, Virgile, Horace, Juvénal, Perse, Phèdre, Lucrèce , Velléius Paterculus, Eutrope et Térence, which he accompanied by explanatory notes and scholarly prefaces. He published two atlases containing decorative maps engraved by some of the most notable engravers of the time.
