Carte de L’Ile de Skyros

C.18th engraved map of the island of Skyros, Greece with the Byzantine Monastery of Saint George marked. The monastery was founded in AD 962 by Saint Athanasius the Athonite.  The map is from one of the most celebrated of all the published works on Greece which established the model for later publications of Voyages pittoresques.
