Description:

Exquisite view of the Spanish Steps and the Church of Trinita dei Monti from Piazza di Spagna. The monumental stairway of 138 steps, designed by architects Francesco de Sanctis and Alessandro Specchi, was built to link the Bourbon Spanish Embassy and the Trinit dei Monti church to the Holy See in Palazzo Monaldeschi. In 1502, Louis XII of France began construction of Trinit dei Monti to celebrate his successful invasion of Naples, which he later lost to the Spanish. The English poet John Keats lived in the house on the right and died there in 1821. From Felix Benoist&#8217s Rome dans sa Grandeur.
