Biography:

Charles Bayliss (1850 -97) after

Bayliss may be regarded as one of the leading Australian hotographers of the c1870s – 80s. Born in England in 1850, at the age of sixteen he was apprenticed to Henry Merlin. He is well known for the largest wet plate of photographic panoramas produced in the c19th for his patron Bernard Holterman. Bayliss died at age of 47.
