Fine lithograph of Tumeric, from Medizinal Pflanzen, which was published in 1887 in Gera, an east-central German city south of Leipzig.

The series was described by Sitwell and Blunt; 

“From the botanical standpoint the finest and most useful series of illustrations of medicinal plants.”

Biography:

Carl Friedrich Schmidt (1811-1890) 
Schmidt was a German botanical artist born in Berlin. He was a renowned botanical artist and lithographer who illustrated many German botanical works of the 19th century.
