Description:

Large scale c.18th map of the Holy Land, orientated with west at the top of the map.

At top is a decorative title, embellished with a large garland of fruit and flowers held up by cherubs. An inset of the Tabernacle at the bottom of the map, the Tribes’ tents, the figures of Moses and Aaron with the Tabernacle’s holy ceremonial vessels. In the seas are galleons and other sailing boats and a compass rose. At top left is a key for features on the map and lower right is a scale of distances.
