Samuel Arrowsmith (1805-1839)
Born in London, the son of Aaron Arrowsmith I, and his wife Sarah HAre. He became a partner after his father’s death and then head of the family business when his brother Aaron Arrowsmith II left to become a minister, their partnership formally dissolved 2 July 1832. He was Hydrographer to the King and was elected to the Royal Geographical Society 26 November 1832. He married Caroline Lyon at St. Anne Soho. He died at the early age of thirty-four on 30 August 1839. His plates, manuscripts and stock were bought by his cousin John Arrowsmith at auction in December 1839.
