Description:

Scarce, colour lithographed c.20th map detailed official map of the Malay Peninsula issued under the authority of the Surveyor General, Federated Malay States, in 1931.

The map delineates the boundaries of the Federated and Unfederated Malay States, Straits Settlements, and adjoining territories, with principal railways, roads, rivers, and settlements clearly marked. It reflects the administrative structure of British Malaya during the interwar period, shortly before the formation of the Malayan Union.

Produced by the Government Printing Office, Kuala Lumpur, this edition exemplifies the high cartographic standards of the Federated Malay States Survey Department, established in 1908 to unify mapping across the peninsula.
