Description:

Richard Anthony Proctor 1837-1888) was an English astronomer. Elected a
fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society in 1866, he became honorary secretary
in 1872. He was an expert in all that related to map-drawing, and published two
star-atlases. He is best remembered for having produced one of the earliest
maps of Mars in 1867.
