Rare detailed plan of Sydney showing streets, municipal and parish boundaries. The harbour has depths noted and some landholders information has been added. This map was issued annually from about 1875 but all editions are rare as older versions would have been discarded when the newer ones were released.

The map extends from Manly to Botany Bay and Hunters Hill in
the west. There are numerous contemporary notes on the map, such as the names
of hotels, well known houses and landmarks. Also added are land features,
including swamps, parks and reserves. Noted at Manly is ‘Camera Obscura’, the rarely recorded existence
of the turreted tower built by Henry
Gilbert Smith that housed a camera obscura. The map is updated with the
most current positions of ‘Trigonmetrical Stations’.
