Rare pictorial presentation for Life Member of the New South Wales Institution for the Deaf and Dumb and the Blind to Otto Wilhem Gustsson of Hunter’s Hill in consideration of being Executor bequest by Miss Eliza Warlters who died 07/07/1919 at Port Macquarie.
The Deaf and Dumb Institution, founded in 1860, was renamed the New South Wales Institution for the Deaf, Dumb and Blind in 1868. It was a public institution for the education of deaf and blind children and had a residential facility for school-aged children. Initially based at Ormond House (Juniper Hall) in Paddington, the Institution moved to a new building in Darlington (Newtown), on the Princes Highway in 1872.
