Thomas Webster was a Scottish geologist. In 1826 he was appointed house-secretary and curator to the Geological Society of London. He was distinguished for his researches on the Cenozoic formations of the Isle of Wight, where he recognised the occurrence of both fresh-water and marine strata he continued his observations on the mainland of Hampshire, and subsequently in Dorset, where he described the rocks of the Isle of Purbeck and Isle of Portland.
Thomas Webster (1800 - 1886)
Thomas Webster RA (1800-1886), was a British painter of genre scenes of school and village life, many of which became popular through prints. He lived for many years at the artists' colony at Cranbrook in Kent.
