Description:

Superbly embellished small c.18th double hemisphere world map.

At lower left and right are a terrestrial and celestial globes while at top there are five celestial diagrams. At lower centre is an armillary sphere with cupids taking measurements and one looking at the skies through a telescope. Australia and New Zealand are shown with the discoveries made by Abel Tasman in 1642-3. California is shown as an island.
