Biography:

John Tallis (1817-1876)
Bookseller and publisher
of maps and atlases who produced the famous atlas of maps, ‘The
Illustrated Atlas, and modern history of the World’. The maps were drawn
by John Rapkin (1813-1899) and were beautifully decorated with vignette
views and local fauna and flora of the areas depicted.
