Description:
A telling a scene of a woman trying to elude paying customs duty without the knowledge of her husband.
“Sometimes it will happen that Monsieur, strong in his consciousness of rectitude, will declare unhesitatingly that his wife and his wares are beyond suspicion. But some zealous official more versed than nay husband in the ways of womenkind, will look undoubtingly at Madame, still more doubtingly at her trunks, and in the end finds his suspicious expectations fully justified.”
From the original of, The Graphic.
