Description:
Text underneathe reads: "In the high court of Justiciary the judge (Lord Justice Clerk), enthroned on his bench, occupies one side of the court. On the right side is the jury box, with its fifteen (not twelve) jurymen, on his left the witness stand, provided with a canopy or sounding-board. In the well of the court around a large square table sit the counsel or advocates engaged in the case. In the middle of the court, in front of what an English court would be the bench for Queen’s Counsel is the dock. This is entered from beneath a trap-door in the floor and a flight of steps leading to the cells below. Behind the dock are the seats allotted tot the Press."
