Rare large colonial engraving of the closing race of the Port Phillip Yacht Club now called the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria and which was established in 1853.
The engraving was made the year before the club was granted the privilege of flying the Blue Ensign of the Colony of Victoria in 1873. The club has been at its present location in Williamstown since 1935.

Albert Charles Cooke (1836 - 1902)
Cooke was a painter, engraver, draughtsman and illustrator. Throughout his career he worked for many of the Illustrated newspapers, such as the Illustrated Sydney News, Illustrated Australian News, The Australasian Sketcher and The Leader. He was also well known for a series of birds eye views of a number of Australian cities and towns.
