This engraving of the All England cricket team’s first tour of Australia in 1861–62 generated huge excitement, the tourists’ first match was in Sydney at the Domain played over four days in 
January 1862This was the first-ever tour of Australia by any overseas team and the second tour abroad by an English team. 

The Secretary for Lands, John Robertson controversially allowed the promoters to charge admission to the public while arranging a free stand for parliamentarians.

A scarce engraving is from the original edition of the Illustrated London News.
