Smith was a London based map seller who at the time of publishing his, ‘Smith’s New General Atlas Containing Distinct Maps of all Principal Empires Kingdoms, & States Throughout the World Carefully Delineated from the best Authorities extant’, was ‘Map seller extraordinary to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales’.
