Buying & Ordering

What currency are your prices in? +

All prices are listed in Australian Dollars (AUD). You can switch to USD using the currency converter on the website. The final charge will be in AUD at the current exchange rate.

What payment methods do you accept? +

We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Please note there is a surcharge for American Express payments. We also accept direct credit — please contact us if you wish to pay by this method.

How quickly will my order be processed? +

All orders are dealt with in strict order of receipt. Once your payment is confirmed, we will prepare and dispatch your item as promptly as possible. You will receive confirmation once your order has been shipped.

Are all items available for immediate purchase? +

All items are offered subject to being unsold. In the rare event that an item has been sold prior to your order being processed, we will contact you promptly and arrange a full refund.

Can I visit the gallery to view items in person? +

Yes. Our gallery is located at Shop 189, 392 Jones Street, Ultimo NSW 2007. If you wish to view a specific item, please contact us or call ahead so we can have it ready for your visit. See our Gallery Hours page for opening times.

Shipping & Delivery

Do you offer free shipping? +

Yes. Free shipping is available on all standard unframed maps and prints:

  • Within Australia: free shipping on all eligible online orders.
  • Outside Australia: free shipping on orders over $A300 AUD (excluding shipping costs).

Free shipping does not apply to framed items, books, or globes. We reserve the right to withdraw the free shipping offer if fulfilment costs would be unreasonable for the items ordered.

How do you pack items for shipping? +

We have shipped thousands of items over more than 40 years and take great care with every order. Depending on the item, we either flat-pack with thick cardboard or use a reinforced packing tube. All items are sent insured through Australia Post with signature on delivery.

How do I get a shipping quote? +

Shipping is calculated automatically at checkout. You can also get an estimate on the cart page by entering your destination country and postcode before proceeding to payment.

What about shipping for framed items, books, and globes? +

These items require custom packing and a custom shipping quote. We recommend proceeding with your order and we will contact you with options — this may include an adjusted quote or the option to ship an item unframed. If you are not satisfied with the options provided, you may cancel and receive a full refund, provided the item has not yet been shipped.

Will I have to pay customs duties or import taxes? +

Free shipping covers the cost of sending your item from Australia to your country’s point of entry only. Any customs duties, import taxes, or brokerage fees charged upon arrival are the responsibility of the buyer. We recommend checking your local import regulations before ordering.

Condition & Authenticity

Are all items genuine antiques? +

Yes. Every item we sell is an original antique — not a reproduction or facsimile. Antique Print & Map Room has been a specialist dealer since 1979 and all items are guaranteed to be as described.

How do you describe condition? +

Each listing includes a detailed condition description. Antique maps and prints are centuries old and may show age-related characteristics — such as toning, minor foxing, or centrefold creasing — all of which are noted. Any conservation or restoration work carried out on an item is also disclosed.

Can I get more images or information about a specific item? +

Yes — please get in touch and we will be happy to provide additional photographs or detailed condition notes for any item in our catalogue.

Returns & Refunds

What is your returns policy? +

We offer a refund if an item is not as described. We do not offer refunds for change of mind, however we may consider an exchange or store credit at our discretion. All return requests must be made within 30 days of receiving your item.

What should I do if I receive the wrong item or an item not as described? +

Please contact us as soon as possible. Depending on the circumstances, we will arrange an exchange, refund, or credit voucher. Please do not return any item without contacting us first — our staff will advise you on the correct procedure.

Who pays for return shipping? +

Return shipping costs are the buyer’s responsibility unless the return is due to an error on our part. If we shipped the wrong item or the item was not as described, we will cover the return shipping cost.

Can I cancel my order? +

Orders cannot be cancelled once they have been shipped. If you wish to cancel before dispatch, please contact us immediately. Our standard returns policy will apply to any order that has already left our premises.
