Scarce early c.19th Italian hand coloured engraving of portraits of three aborigines based on the original engravings by Nicholas Petit  issued as three separate portraits in the accounts of Nicholas Baudin’s  voyage of exploration and discovery in the ships; Geographe and Causarina in 1802-3. From left, the portraits are of;

Left: Port Jackson warrior Cour-rou-bari-gal of the Boregegal (Bradleys Head Clan)
Centre: Tasmanian woman Arra-maïda of Bruny Island
Right: Grou- Agara, man of Van Diemen’s Land.
