Lieutenant A. H. Irby (1818-1861)
A sketcher, soldier and lieutenant in the 51st Regiment, Irby sought his discharge from the Army in 1847 and joined T. W. Hazelwood’s pastoral venture at Bindoon. This was not a success and, having become heavily indebted to Hazelwood, Irby left the colony in May 1850 to rejoin his regiment.
