Elephant Marins.

Famous image of elephant seals on King Island, based on drawing by Charles Alexander Lesueur artist on the French of exploration, made while the expedition visited King Island on 6th December 1802. The voyage was under the command of Nicholas Baudin. The naturalists from the expedition camped for several days at Sea Elephant Bay on King Island in Bass Strait where they collected specimens of two native cats.

Distribution: Occassional annual sightings in Tasmania.
