Description:

Rare lithograph from the official account by Abel du Petit-Thouars, Voyage Autour du Monde sur La Venus 1836-1839.

The Venus had arrived at Callao on 13/5/37 and one month stay during which Dortet de Tessan was sent to chart the shoal Hormigas off the north point of San Lorenzo Island, while Dupetit-Thouars went to Lima on official visits. From Calao the Venus sailed west on 14/6/37 to check on the existence of the island of St Paul, shown on some old charts which Dupetit-Thouars decided did not exist.
