One of the first printed maps and views of New Zealand recording Abel Tasman’s visit December 1642.

The map shows the tracks of Abel Tasman’s ships,  Zeehaen and the Heemskerck, along the north-west coast of the South Island, the western approaches of Cook Strait and the west coast of the North Island, between 13 December 1642 to 6 January 1643.

In the view, Tasmans ships, the Zeehaen and the Heemskerck, are shown moored at Three Kings Islands at the northern most point of the North Island 5-6 January, 1643.
